REGISTRATION

What documents are required for registration?
• Students of the University with Hungarian citizenship: identity card, student card and residence card
• Adults (above 18): identity card, residence card
• Students under 18: identity card, residence card, student card and guarantee statement of a legal representative of an adult
• Students of other institutions: student card, identity card and residence card
• Foreign students of the University: passport, bond of guarantee of their department and permit of residence

As a university citizen, how much does it cost to enrol in the library?
• Our services are free of charge for the professors and lecturers, researchers, employees, and students, so Citizens of our University
• Additional fees are accessible in the Services menu.

If there is a change in my personal data, do I have to inform the library?

BORROWING

How many books can be on loan at a time?

Professors and lecturers of the University:   on individual request
Employees of the University:   10 documents
Students of the University:   10 documents
External users:   5 documents

 
Are all the books loanable?
No, not all books are loanable. The labels on the books and our trained staff will help you.
• Reference books with the label „K” can be used only onsite.
• Books with the label „Kvt” can be borrowed for 1 month.
• Most of the books from the repository are loanable, too.

Can another person borrow a book for me?
No, everyone can borrow books only on their own behalf.

Do I have to return my borrowed books myself?
No, anyone can return them for you.

What do I need to do if I cannot find the borrowed books?
Please do not hesitate to ask for help from our staff in service at the information desk in person or via e-mail or by phone. In the case of a lost or damaged book, if it can be obtained, the reader must replace it with an identical or a recent copy. If the book cannot be obtained, the value of the publication shown in the inventories shall be paid.

 

RENEWING

What do I need to do if I do not know the expiry date of my borrowed books?
The expiry date of the loan period can be found on a label inside the book on the first page. You can also check it on the website of our library after logging in into the online catalogue. If the loan period has not expired yet and there is no new request on that book from others, you can renew it online. You can also initiate an extension by e-mail or on phone.

How can I renew a borrowed book?
If the loan period has not expired yet and there is no new request on that book from others, you can do it online two times after logging in into the online catalogue. In addition, you can ask for renewal via e-mail and by phone, or in person at the information desk.

In what cases do I have to pay a late fee, and how much?
If you did not return the book nor renewed it before the expiration date, you must pay a late fee. You can ask for information on the exact amount at the information desk in person, by phone or via e-mail. The information on the amount of late fees is accessible under Services.

 

RESERVATION

What is a reservation?
If the book you need is on loan at the time you want to borrow it, you may initiate a reservation on the document. Reservation can be done in person, online, by phone, or via e-mail. A message is being sent via e-mail as soon as it becomes available again. Upon request we reserve it for you for the following 8 days.

How can I make a reservation?
You can do it by logging in into the online catalogue or ask by e-mail, phone or in person at the library.

What should I do if I want to cancel my reservation for a book?
If you wish to cancel your subscription, you can do so in person at the librarian, by phone or by e-mail. You can also cancel your subscription to a book by logging in to the online catalogue on the library's website, via the reader profile.

What are the consequences if I don't show up for my reserved book?
If you do not apply for your reservation by the specified deadline after the notice e-mail has been sent, it will no longer be retained for you.

 

SEARCHING BOOKS

Is the online catalogue only available from the library's computers?
It is accessible from anywhere even from your home. You only need internet access.

How do I find the book that have been selected from the catalogue on the shelf?
If you click on the "Library" button in the "Location" column of the catalogue, you will find the whereabouts of the book and its catalogue number. The numbers on the side of the bookshelves and the pressmarks on the spine of the book will help you find your way. In our reading rooms, we have colour maps that make the location of the book you are looking for easy to find.

What does the marking on the book mean?
The pressmark is a combination of letters and numbers on the spine of a document, showing where on the shelf you can find that book. The number indicates what subject or field of science the book belongs to and the letter combination is given according to its author or title.

What types of books can I find in the Library?
As a higher education library, our primary task is to serve the educational, research and studying needs of the university, therefore we have adapted our collection accordingly.

 

DATABASES

Which databases do I have access to?
You can get information about and browse our databases here.

Can databases be used only on the computers of the Library?
• In the building of the Library, you can use our subscribed databases. They are accessible for all registered users, both on our public computers and your own devices via Free-Wi-Fi connection.
• You can access the databases also remotely. In this case, you need to use your Central Identity (CI) (Központi Címtár Azonosító, KCA in Hungarian) registration to log in.

 

DISSTERTATIONS

Is it possible to browse dissertation titles from home?
Yes, you can search and find theses, dissertations and doctoral theses in our online catalogue. In the catalogue, you can also filter the documents under the tab "Databases", making it easier to browse.

How can I read dissertations?
Dissertations and theses can be read only onsite by our registered readers after filling in the request form.

Can I borrow the theses?
No, these are read-onsite documents, no loans are available.

Can I create copies of dissertations or theses?
According to the regulations of the University, these documents cannot be duplicated (printed, copied or scanned) but you can take notes from them.

 

OPENING HOURS

What are the opening hours of the library?
• Our library is open between 8 am and 7 pm from Monday to Thursday, from 8 am to 5 pm on Friday. It is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
• About summer holiday opening hours and on-duty hours you can find information on our website and Facebook profile or you can ask our colleagues.

Where can I find the library?
Our central library is located on the upper campus of the University of Pannonia in 1 Wartha Vince street, building “M”.

Is there a cloakroom in the library?
• Yes, and it is compulsory to use the groundfloor-cloakroom.
• Large bags, umbrellas and food are not allowed in reading rooms.
