As a precursor to the Archive, an office was established at the University in 1964 in order to collect items from the past of the University and documents from the Dean’s and the Rector’s offices. The Archive was established in 1999. Since the end of 2021, it is a part of the Pannon University Library and Knowledge Centre.

Our mission is to collect, organize, preserve and provide access to documents of the University that have historical values. We collect documents from the University of Pannonia and all of its predecessor institutions (the University of Veszprém, Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering, and Faculty of Heavy Chemistry of the Technical University of Budapest) and bequests of the professors.

There are documents of the Council of the Faculty since 1949, the Council of the Dean since 1957 and the Council of the Rector in our collection. The most important sources are the filed documents of the Rector’s Office and related organizational units. The archive also preserves the personal and study records of the students.

One of the most interesting parts of the collection contains documents of Károly Polinszky, the founder of the University, former dean and rector. The photo archive includes thousands of photos from the foundation of the University till nowadays.
Since the storage capacity of the Archive significantly improved, almost 130 linear metres of new documents arrived in the Archive in the last two years, therefore it has kept 437 linear metre documents classified into 30 fonds since 1949 in the warehouse on a 117 m2 area.

The Archive has a 25 m2 research room for our quests.

Please feel free to contact the staff of the Archive for further information and help.
